Is terrorism over?

This note was posted near my lab in the first week of school which was last week. The question is why American students are not interested in counter terrorism any more?

Here is an online counter of how much the US has spent on War or Terror since 2001 which I think lead, partly and indirectly, to its economic crises.

Cost of U.S. Wars Since 2001
$1,074,227,238,268
I wonder how many starving children in Africa we could have saved with this gazillion amount of money?
  • 1.02 billion people are hungry.
  • Every day, almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes. That’s one child every five seconds.
  • There were 1.4 billion people in extreme poverty in 2005.
  • The World Bank estimates that the spike in global food prices in 2008, followed by the global economic recession in 2009 and 2010 has pushed between 100-150 million people into poverty.

1,074,227,238,268$ blown into the wind are more than enough to cause a financial crisis! Do you think that people got fed up with this whole terrorism thingy? Or that everyone read or heard enough about it? May be this course is not easy! You know, students like the courses with the easiest A’s!

      • jaraad says:

You might be right, I overlooked the possibility that the course may be difficult :)
I think after 9 years of draining money and lives people want a change.

The bubble “of terror” has bursted!
That`s a big answer to it -in my opinion-

      H.

    3. I don’t think that terrorism is over, but like any new event, it starts very big and after a while people get bored or become interested in another big event, its the financial crises for america at the mean time.
personally, I believe that the financial crises is just ‘karma’, America spent trillions of dollars to destroy nations in the name of terrorism and accepts just to get away with it? how many are now homeless and starving? America should taste and suffer like it made others suffer.

      • jaraad says:

Yes, terrorism is not over and it will never be. It is as old as life. Unfortunately, this time terror is associated with Islam thanks to those who claim they are Muslims and blow themselves up among children and women and tell the world that this is the “true Islam”.

    4. Ahmad Hamdan says:

It might be people are starting to get fed up of this crap or as Sheeshany said the bubble has burst and people want to live on

      • jaraad says:

People fed up but they still are afraid because they know after 9 years they still didn’t completely achieve what they started.

    5. whisper says:

It will never end, its still there reserved to cover things to come, but maybe because the media reduced the talking about terrorism and put the spot light on something else, the financial crises for now

About this huge number which I couldn’t read at first, they could do many things with this money not only in Africa , they could eliminate the poverty all over the world… OK not eliminate but it would cause change

    6. jaraad says:

I am sure this amount of money would revive the whole African continent.
