Who is the witness of killing innocent people in Afghanistan?

An article published in the New York times on March 2010 talks how the persistence of killing innocent people at checkpoints has led some relatives to join the insurgency. But who is saying that those Afghani killed at checkpoints are innocents?

The story:

American and NATO troops firing from passing convoys and military checkpoints have killed 30 Afghans and wounded 80 others since last summer, but in no instance did the victims prove to be a danger to troops, according to military officials in Kabul. [source]

The witness:

We have shot an amazing number of people, but to my knowledge, none has ever proven to be a threat. [same source]

Conclusion:

One or more of the following is/are true:

  1. Osama Bin Laden is the most pious and righteous Muslim and for that he is protected by Allah. Hence, the most powerful force on earth, The United States of American, could not touch him for the past 9 years. Or,
  2. Osama Bin Laden is just a normal man with an evil mind and the only reason he is still alive after 9 years of “war on terror” is because the United States of America wants him to be alive, for some reason. Or,
  3. Osama Bin Laden is died but the United States is still exploiting his name as an alive person for some reason. In one of his audios he blamed the United States for the global warming [video]. Or,
  4. The United States don’t want to exit Afghanistan because they don’t know what they want to achieve now. They are not sure if the mission is done or not. There are no Al-Qaeda members there or at least there is no way to confirm; any Afghani looks like any member of Al-Qaeda and vice versa. Or,
  5. Still keeping troops in Afghanistan is the same reason there are American troops in Germany and Japan; a message to the world of who is in charge. Or,
  6. The incredibly over used “war on terror” thing has to stop NOW.
