Downtown Stroll – II

Riding one of these hot air balloons is on my wish list. Unfortunately, they are too expensive. The price range is between $160 and $225.

  1. The picture was taken on 9th St. Continue to the corner of 9th & Elm and you will find my favorite pizza of all time – Shakespeare’s Pizza. Except in my day, two 16″ double cheese pizzas were for $8.00 and with $2.00 off coupon from the Wed Add Sheet, one can have the two pizzas for $6 plus all the Parmesan cheese you want since the containers were complementary on all the tables. Those were the days.

    1. You got that right, Shakespeare’s Pizza is the best in town. Unfortunately, it is not as cheap as it used to be in your time🙂

  2. What a beautiful balloon! Maybe you could start an entertainment fund and put spare change or so much from each paycheck in it and “reward” yourself with a ride when you’ve saved enough. I wonder if there are any discount coupons online. Send me your address, and I’ll make a contribution to your balloon fund. Seriously. I want you to get to go – and then report back to us how awesome it was!🙂

    1. I am speechless. What a generous offer. Thank you very much.I liked your “entertainment fund” idea. Very smart. I think I am going to do it.

  3. Jaraad, I like Susanne’s idea too…I think some of us get too used to working and don’t make play a priority. Save $3 a week and there you are!

And, pray. Ask God if He would like to surprise you with a freebie🙂

My nextdoor neighbor in California raced balloons when I was little. I rode the balloon with behind-neighbor Gayle King (of Oprah fame) and her little sis, my best bud in those days, and we got our pic in the SF Chronicle

  4. Thanks for the tip and the encouragement. I will try to do that although a God sent freebie would be an amazing gift🙂
Wow.. you knew Gayle King and balloon racer? That is why it is nice to live in California. You meet very interesting people there🙂
